79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 8: Rehab, Indigenous Health, & Nutrition
Statement:

The World Federation of Public Health Associations is concerned that we remain off track to meet all 2030 global nutrition targets. Progress on low birthweight, childhood overweight, and anaemia among women of reproductive age remains insufficient.
Climate-related disruptions to food systems worsen food insecurity and disproportionately affect women and children, who remain among the most nutritionally vulnerable populations.
We call on Member States to support nutrition-sensitive, climate-resilient food and nutrition surveillance systems that prioritise vulnerable populations, including women of reproductive age, infants and young children.
We must act now to support maternal, infant, and young child nutrition and safeguard future generations.
Thank you.
