World Federation of Neurology
79th WHA Individual Statements
12.1 Follow-up to the political declaration of the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases
The World Federation of Neurology, with 126 member societies worldwide, urges member states towards action aligned with the political declaration on the prevention and control of NCDs. Recognizing the interconnectedness between NCDs, neurological, and mental health is crucial for developing strong healthcare systems prepared for prevention and treatment of these conditions.
Neurological disorders are the leading cause of overall global disease burden and disability, affecting 43% of the population. We call for the implementation of the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and other Neurological Disorders alongside measures against NCDs to protect brain health at all stages of life.
We support the statement by MSIF and constituency and asks member states to prioritize brain health for a sustainable future.
