Agenda Item:
6. Universal health coverage
Statement:

Neurological conditions have an impact on millions of people globally and pose significant challenges to public health. Unfortunately, access to quality neurologic care is limited in many regions due to factors such as inadequate resources, lack of specialized healthcare professionals, and financial barriers. The implementation of the WHO intersectoral action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders is of paramount importance for fostering advocacy, care and research in neurology worldwide and for improving the models of primary health care.
In the pursuit of UHC, it is essential to address the unique healthcare needs of individuals with neurological disorders, which requires a comprehensive and integrated approach to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. By incorporating neurology into the broader framework of UHC, we can ensure that neurology services are comprehensive, accessible, and of high quality, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for individuals with neurological disorders.
