Agenda Item:
- Item 24.2 Review of and update on matters considered by the Executive Board were discussed during the 156th Executive Board meeting in February 2025.
Statement:
Distinguished delegates,
World Cancer Research Fund International welcomes the extension of the Global Nutrition Targets to 2030, and the resolution on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition. We urge Member States to accelerate the implementation of policies, such as the WHO Best Buys, that support each of the 5 proposed actions, and place priority on risk factors for cancer and NCDs, including improving food environments addressing malnutrition in all its forms, and commit to increasing investment.
Multi-sectoral approaches and management of conflict of interests are necessary for the protection of maternal, infant and young child nutrition, and will support the prevention of cancer and other NCDs.
