Union for International Cancer Control
78th WHA Individual Statements
UICC welcomes the integrated lung health resolution as a valuable framework to address the 2.48m lung cancer cases annually. We call on Member States to:
•Adopt the resolution and support WHO to develop the recommendations;
•Scale up prevention through the full implementation of the FCTC and adopting a national commitment to reduce the health impacts of air pollution by 50% by 2040;
•Integrate lung health services into UHC benefit packages and financial protection measures, encompassing screening, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.
We also welcome the initiative to designate the 17November as World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day.
Both resolutions support overdue action on NCDs and, as Governments plan for the UN HLM, we urge all parties to recommit to investing in robust, equitable, and evidence-based NCD prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.
