PSI notes that the Health Assembly is invited to adopt the recommendation of EB154. We are thus constrained to reiterate our concerns at the discrepancy between UHC rhetoric and practice, and increasing private sector engagement. Public funding and delivery of quality health services are crucial to achieving universal health care.

Member States need to take bold steps that address constraints to budgetary prioritisation of health such as constricted fiscal policy space for LMICs. We thus urge the Health Assembly to call for the cancellation of LMICs debts, and link this to expanding investment in primary healthcare in concerned countries.

We further call on MS to commit adequate resources to make health workers available for all, as the backbone of UHC.
