Statement:

Medicines for Malaria Venture recommends an urgent and participatory plan to protect the health of indigenous peoples, including addressing the high malaria burden affecting several communities due to isolation, climate change and deforestation. These populations need safe and simple prevention and treatment. MMV is proud to have contributed to the joint development and recent roll out of pediatric tafenoquine, an innovative, single-dose and child-friendly treatment for Plasmodium vivax malaria, among the Yanomami children in the Amazon region. With a view to supporting underserved populations in the effort for malaria elimination, we remain committed to continuing to promote equitable access to medical innovations for indigenous communities.
