77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 2.2. Items 14.1 (A77/12), 14.2 and 14.3
Statement:

The crisis in Gaza is the most urgent health crisis in the world today. Since October, the Israeli military has killed over 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza, the vast majority of whom are civilians. Those who survive face famine, thirst, sanitation, and displacement, and a decimated healthcare system.
The DG’s report A77/12 states that “The collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip is a result of systematic attacks, and healthcare workers being killed, as well as shortages of fuel, essential goods and medical supplies.”
Human rights and international law must apply to all, or they are meaningless. We call for an immediate ceasefire and for MS to contribute to rebuilding the health system in Gaza as a matter of extreme urgency.
