Statement:

Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) welcomes the draft Global Action Plan. Climate change is a major threat to eliminating malaria and other vector-borne diseases. The epidemiology of these diseases is changing due to climate change, and the occurrence of deadly outbreaks has intensified. Development and equitable access to medicines which are simple to administer, stable and long-acting is an important next step for communities' resilience, for example in disaster situations. MMV recommends the inclusion of indicators in the Global Action Plan on infectious diseases and on development and availability of medicines responding to the needs of populations affected by climate change.
