Statement:

The Medical Women’s International Association reaffirms that immunization remains one of the most successful public health interventions, having saved an estimated 154 million lives over the past 50 years.

Today, as we are closer than ever to eradicating polio and have made substantial progress toward measles elimination, we cannot allow anti-vaccine sentiment to undermine historic gains or jeopardize the health of the most vulnerable children, women, and men.

Together with our strategic partner, the Global Sepsis Alliance, we reiterate that immunization is one of the strongest preventive measures against Sepsis, a medical emergency that claims 11 million lives each year.

Therefore, we call upon Member States to strengthen investments in national, regional, and global immunization programmes to achieve IA2030 targets and avert 50 million deaths.
