77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 1.2. Items 11.3, 11.4 and 11.5
Statement:

Excellencies, communities living in fragile and conflict-affected contexts are often missed by the conventional health systems. But, we have proven that they are reachable and health sector services can be extended to those that otherwise are left out.

To ensure all children receive lifesaving vaccines, we need robust, tailored, and sustainably funded programs delivered through front-line actors.

The IRC-led Gavi REACH Consortium model is promising. Within the first 16 months, it delivered over 1.5 million doses in the Horn of Africa and negotiated increased access to underserved communities, increasing access from 16% to 78%.

Excellencies, the REACH, people-centered model must become the rule rather than the exception in the 25 fragile countries with over 90% of zero-dose children worldwide. Without immediate action, health inequities deepen and worsen.

Together, we can institutionalize resilient models of care to prevent child mortality.
