Statement:

IPOS would like to thank the WHO for the close collaboration that has existed between the WHO and IPOS for some years now. We would definitely like that relationship & collaboration to increase, both in quantity as well as in quality.

There is increasing incidence of cancers in the world for which reason much collaboration is needed in its control. Psycho-Social oncology deals with all the psychological & social problems of cancer patients, their families and caregivers. The burdens may be excruciatingly enormous, affecting both the management outcomes & the quality of life of cancer patients. Without Psycho-Social oncology services most cancer care would end up with excruciating pain, suffering, poor quality of life and even miserable deaths.
In all these realities, the Low & Middle-Income countries are by far very little served in these regards. In tackling this problem, IPOS is in partnership with local representatives in running the Extension for Community HealthCare Outcomes (ECHO) programme in Africa to develop some critical human resources for this purpose. In the coming years, we will be delighted to develop more programmes in which more of those partnerships will become more operational for as many as possible in LMIC

Thank you for your audience.
