78th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Items 12 and 13.1.
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,

IPSF represents over 500,000 pharmacy students and recent graduates from more than 100 countries.

We acknowledge the progress made through the Global Action Plan and the Global Coordination Mechanism (GCM/NCD). However, the recent independent mid-term evaluation underscores that persistent gaps remain. Many countries have yet to establish robust multisectoral action plans, secure sustainable financing, or set time-bound national targets.

To accelerate progress, we urge Member States and WHO to:
-Consistently integrate pharmacists into primary healthcare systems to enhance medication adherence and community-based prevention
-Ensure meaningful and regionally-balanced participation of youth, pharmacists, people living with NCDs, and diverse non-State actors in policy design and implementation
-Prioritise gender equality, health equity, and social determinants of health in all NCD strategies, with meaningful participation from marginalized groups.

Thank you.
