- Item 16.2 Intergovernmental Negotiating Body to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished delegates,

The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), representing over 500,000 pharmaceutical students and recent graduates in more than 100 countries, commends the efforts of WHO and Member States in finalising the pandemic agreement. We recognise it as a foundational step towards fostering international cooperation, strengthening health systems, and safeguarding global health security.

As emerging health professionals, many of our members have been at the forefront during the pandemic, delivering health services, public education, research and supply chain management. .
Therefore, IPSF urges WHO and its Member States to:
-Leverage pharmacy students and pharmacists as an essential part of the health workforce to enhance the resilience of future pandemic responses.
-Strengthen national preparedness by integrating the agreement into national plans with multisectoral, One Health approaches, and resilient health systems;
-Establish robust oversight and transparency to guarantee fair and equitable access to health innovations and data for all.

Thank you.
