Agenda Item:
- Item 15.4 Climate change, pollution and health
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished delegates,

The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) represents over 500,000 pharmaceutical students and recent graduates in over 100 countries worldwide.

IPSF recognises climate change as a significant threat to human health, exacerbating existing health inequalities and posing new challenges to healthcare systems worldwide. The effects of climate change, including extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and changing disease patterns, directly impact human health and well-being.

IPSF calls on the WHO and Member States to:
Allocate sufficient financial and human resources to enhance national healthcare systems, ensuring readiness to confront evolving risks and challenges associated with climate change;
Foster the development of a resilient, interprofessional workforce by implementing capacity-building initiatives tailored to address the complexities posed by climate change.
Implement programs aimed at safeguarding the well-being of healthcare professionals and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential services.
Thank you.
