Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished delegates,

The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), representing over 500,000 pharmaceutical students and recent graduates worldwide, believes that a comprehensive and globally coordinated approach is essential to effectively address the ongoing and future threats posed by pandemics.

Therefore, IPSF fully supports the establishment of the INB to facilitate the development of a robust and inclusive framework for pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.

IPSF urges WHO and Member States to
incorporate early risk assessment and global surveillance mechanisms, emphasising a One Health perspective, into the pandemic treaty to effectively mitigate pandemic impacts.
actively engage in the negotiation process and ensure that the convention reflects the principles of equity, solidarity, and inclusivity. It is imperative that the convention should prioritise the needs of vulnerable populations, promotes access to essential healthcare services, and strengthens global health security.
