Agenda Item:
- Item 28.1 Progress reports Pillar 3: One billion more people enjoying better health and well-being
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,

Thank you for the opportunity to speak on behalf of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the global organisation representing over four million pharmacists worldwide.

Evidence from multiple regions underscores the widespread nature and serious consequences of workplace violence, which negatively impacts pharmacists’ job satisfaction, mental well-being, and the quality of patient care. Addressing violence in pharmacies requires a structured, multidisciplinary approach that provides organised support for pharmacy staff.

Ensuring quality patient care amidst frequent exposure to violence presents a significant ethical challenge for community pharmacists. To address this, it is essential to enhance awareness and training on workplace violence, while also reinforcing safety measures within pharmacies to better protect and empower these healthcare professionals.

The FIP toolkit for positive practice environments for women in science and education further urges employers, professionals, and policymakers to promote safe and supportive workplaces and to develop policies and regulatory frameworks that ensure safe working conditions.

Thank you for your attention.
