77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 3.1. Items 15.1, 15.2, 15.3 and 15.5
Statement:

Health inequities arise from avoidable and often unfair differences in treatment and outcomes, often linked to social determinants of health, and including education, economic status, housing, age, gender, and many other factors. Here, FIP highlights the critical role that pharmacists play in addressing health inequities. As highlighted by FIP campaign Think Health Think Pharmacy, pharmacists are very accessible and pivotal to ensuring equitable access to affordable, high-quality healthcare services, health education, medicines, medical devices, and vaccines.

We encourage Member States to leverage pharmacists’ expertise and accessibility in improving health equity and to prioritise their inclusion in healthcare policies aimed at addressing inequitable health outcomes arising from the social determinants of health.
