77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
13.3 Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005)
Statement:

The IFPMA acknowledges and appreciates the substantial efforts made by Member States in advancing the text of the WGIHR. We recognize the dedication and collaboration that have brought us to this stage, reflecting a shared commitment.

The pharmaceutical industry is committed to the principle of equity in global health. However, while progress has been made, the current draft still has open issues that may present challenges and have a counterproductive impact.

The lack of clarity on many key definitions and the ongoing discussions at the INB, which are cross-referenced in the document, complicate our ability to fully assess and provide comprehensive feedback on the proposed amendments. In addition, we urge Member States to ensure that technology transfer remains voluntary and on mutually agreed terms.

We remain committed to working with Member States and stakeholders to achieve a robust and successful outcome.
