Global Self-Care Federation
78th WHA Individual Statements
The pandemic and ongoing health crises have made one thing clear: a resilient health workforce is essential—not only for health systems, but for society as a whole. Yet we remain off track to address the projected shortfall of 11.1 million health workers by 2030, threatening progress on UHC and NCD targets.
Strengthening the workforce is not just about numbers—it’s about building well-being, resilience, and the ability to deliver care effectively. Investing in self-care—by and for health workers—improves outcomes and fosters a stronger, more productive workforce.
We call on Member States to:
Integrate self-care into national health policies,
Equip health workers for inclusive NCD prevention,
Leverage digital and AI tools,
And strengthen collaborative care models across the system.
Putting self-care at the heart of workforce strategies will help build healthier communities and more resilient societies.
