Global Self-Care Federation

The Global Self-Care Federation commends WHO for integrating self-care into UHC. Self-care complements primary healthcare, enhances disease prevention, and strengthens resilience against pandemics and non-communicable diseases. It also reduces environmental stressors and boosts healthcare efficiency.
As a cornerstone of sustainable health systems, self-care eases financial burdens and ensures long-term viability. It could save $119 billion annually in global healthcare costs and optimize resource use, generating EUR 7 for every EUR 1 invested—allowing better allocation toward specialized care and infrastructure.
A WHO-led global action plan could provide structured guidance, promote best practices, and help policymakers optimize self-care for UHC advancement.
