77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 3.1. Items 15.1, 15.2, 15.3 and 15.5
Statement:

Honorable Chair, distinguished delegates,

Representing the Healthcare Information for All Network, a part of Global Healthcare Information Netowork, I stand before you to emphasize the critical role of accessible, quality health information in promoting well-being. Knowledge empowers individuals to make choices that enhance their health and prevent disease, essential for sustainable development.

Often healthcare interventions are already available, but lack of access to reliable healthcare information means they are not taken up or they are used inappropriately, wasting the investments made in their development and procurement, or severely affecting their effectiveness. For instance, mis-use of antibiotics is driving antibiotic resistance around the world.

We urge member states to strengthen systems that ensure all people, regardless of background or location, have access to the health information they need. Let us commit to bridging information gaps and fostering a global environment where informed health decisions lead to healthier lives for all.

Thank you.
