Statement:

FDI World Dental Federation represents over one million dentists worldwide.

Preparations for the upcoming UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs included the first WHO Global Oral Health Meeting hosted by Thailand, and the Bangkok Declaration on Oral Health, its outcome document.

We are deeply concerned about the explicit exclusion of oral diseases and the commitments made at the Bangkok Meeting in the zero draft of this year`s UN HLM's Political Declaration. Through the Bangkok Declaration, Member States unequivocally called for recognizing oral diseases, and public health measures for their prevention and management in this Political Declaration, given their high and unequal burden. Ignoring this call undermines progress on universal health coverage (UHC), NCD prevention, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Oral health is not optional—it is integral to health, equity, and human dignity. FDI strongly recommends recognizing oral health within this Political Declaration and at the UN HLM.
