Sampling

Sampling Procedure
GYTS uses a global standardized methodology that includes a two-stage sample design with schools selected with a probability proportional to enrollment size. The classes within selected schools are chosen randomly and all students in selected classes are eligible to participate in the survey.

A total of 1,006 students aged 13-15 participated in the Peru - Huancayo GYTS.
A total of 1,026 students aged 13-15 participated in the Peru - Trujillo GYTS.
A total of 771 students aged 13-15 participated in the Peru - Tarapoto GYTS.
A total of 1,217 students aged 13-15 participated in the Peru - Lima GYTS.
Response Rate
Huancayo -
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 92.4%, and the overall response rate was 92.4%.
Lima -
The school response rate was 98.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 92.0%, and the overall response rate was 90.1%.
Tarapoto -
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 88.4%, and the overall response rate was 88.4%.
Trujillo -
The school response rate was 95.8%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 85.6%, and the overall response rate was 82.1%.
Weighting
The weighting formula used is:
W=W1 * W2 * f1 * f2 * f3*f4
The list below shows what each variable in the formula represents.
W1 - The inverse of the probability of selecting the school
W2 - The inverse of the probability of selecting the class within the school
f1 - a school-level nonresponse adjustment factor calculated by school size category (small, medium, large)
f2 - a class adjustment factor calculated by school
f3 - a student-level nonresponse adjustment factor calculated by class
f4 - a post stratification adjustment factor calculated by gender and grade
