Description

The National Mental Health Policy is aligned to the country's National Health Policy and Plan for development of the health system and the National Health Vision 2030. The goals of the policy is to strengthen the mental health promotion, illness prevention, treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation, and social inclusion and support components of the mental health system to reduce the avoidable burden of morbidity, disability and mortality due to mental disorders so that every person in Myanmar reaches the highest attainable standard of mental health and well-being and productivity, and where persons with mental disorder can be free from stigma, discrimination and social exclusion, and are assured of effective human rights and financial risk protection.
To achieve the vision and goals of the mental health policy, actions will be carried out through a five-year strategic plan which covers the mental health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation in bio-psycho-social approach.
