Description

The Ministry of Gender and Family (MGF) has the national mandate to protect and promote the rights of women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. In view of its function and role, the Ministry has established and delivers its services through 19 Family and Children’s Service Centers (FCSCs) in all atolls and central office in Male’. The Ministry also runs two shelters, Fiyavathi and Kudakudhinge Hiya. This report documents Ministry achievements with the four program areas, mainly in legislative and policy development, advocacy and outreach efforts, empowerment programs, national and international engagements, and its efforts to provide social services to vulnerable children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
