Este documento estabelece a Política Nacional para a Inclusão e Promoção dos Direitos das Pessoas com deficiência. A Política tem como principais objectivos:

a) Promover a igualdade de oportunidades, a participação activa e a melhoria da qualidade de vida das pessoas com deficiência, como contributo no processo de desenvolvimento socio-económico da sociedade timorense.
b) Definir as áreas de intervenção e as estratégias do Governo para a prevenção, tratamento, reabilitação e integração das pessoas com deficiência.
c) Criar um mecanismo de coordenação e articulação entre os Sectores Público e Privado e a Sociedade Civil para uma adequada monitorização e avaliação com vista a uma harmonização.

This document establishes the National Policy on the Inclusion and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Policy has the following main objectives:

a) To promote equal opportunity, active participation and the improvement of the quality of life of people with disabilities, contributing to the socio-economic development of Timorese society.
b) To define the areas of intervention and government strategies for the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and integration of people with disabilities.
c) Create a mechanism for the coordination and linkage between the public and private sectors of civil society for an adequate monitoring and evaluation towards harmonization.
