The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to improving the way it responds to mental health and addictions issues, and endorses the 10-year Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan.On December 1, 2014, Dr. Fern Stockdale Winder, Commissioner of the Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan, submitted her report to government, calling for a more coordinated and timely response to people in need of mental health and addictions services.
The Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan outlines 16 recommendations that fall into seven categories:
Enhance access and capacity and support recovery in the community
Focus on prevention and early intervention
Create person and family-centred and coordinated services
Respond to diversities
Partner with First Nations and Métis Peoples
Reduce stigma and increase awareness
Transform the system and sustain the change
