Description

This strategy sets out the actions the Scottish Government will take to prevent and reduce
suicide in Scotland. The Scottish Government’s strategy to reduce suicide focuses on 5 key themes of work in communities and in services with 11 commitments to continue the downward trend in suicides and contribute to the delivery of the National Outcome to enable people to live longer, healthier lives.

The strategy outlines progress and identifies areas for further attention. It seeks to improve Scotland's engagement with people in distress, to change the way people talk about suicide in Scotland, and to support improvements in how the NHS responds to people who are suicidal.

Information on sources of support for people who may be at risk of suicide or self-harm is
provided.
