Ainsi, cette loi poursuit notamment les objectifs ci-après:
- garantir à l'enfant le droit de bénéficier des différentes mesures à caractère administratif,
social, judiciaire, éducatif, sanitaire et autres visant à le protéger de toutes formes d'abandon, de négligence, d'exploitation et d'atteinte physique, morale, psychique et sexuelle,
- diffuser et promouvoir la culture des droits et devoirs de l'enfant et en faire connaître à celui-ci les particularités intrinsèques en vue de garantir l'épanouissement intégral de sa personnalité et de le préparer à ses responsabilités citoyennes,-
- faire participer l'enfant à tout ce qui le concerne par des moyens appropriés susceptibles
de l'aider à acquérir les vertus du travail, de l'initiative et de l'effort personnel,-
- cultiver en lui les valeurs de solidarité, de tolérance, de paix et de respect mutuel afin de l'amener à prendre conscience de t'indissociabilité de ses droits et devoirs par rapport à ceux du reste de la communauté,-
- renforcer la responsabilité des parents, de la famille et de l'ensemble de la communauté à l'égard de l'enfant.
