Description

The purpose of this Decree is: “To establish the National Council for older persons for the purpose of inclusivity, instilling dignity, respect for human rights and meeting basic needs through the empowerment of older persons and for related matters.”

The objectives of the National Council are to:
(a) strengthen the partnership and collaboration between the Government, families, community based organisations, traditional village communities, non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations and the private sector, in creating an inclusive, protective, healthy and supportive
environment for older persons; and
(b) represent the rights and interests of older persons in Fiji at all levels.
