Description

“An Act to reform the law relating to children by providing for their equal status.”

As of January 1, 1980, there is no distinction between the status of children born in or out of wedlock, and previous distinctions are abolished. A person is a child of their natural parents and their status as their parent’s child is independent of whether they were born in or outside of wedlock.
