ضمت دولة الكويت إلى ست من اتفاقيات الأمم المتحدة الرئيسية السبع في مجال حقوق الإنسان، وهي : 1- العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية ( 1996 ). 2- العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق الإقتصادية والإجتماعية والثقافية ( 1996 ). 3- اتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز العنصري ( 1968 ). 4- اتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة ( 1994 ). 5- اتفاقية مناهضة التعذيب وغيره من ضروب المعاملة أو العقوبة القاسية أو اللاإنسانية أو المهينة ( 1994 ). 6- اتفاقية حقوق الطفل ( 1991 ). كما انضمت إلى " البروتوكولين الاختياريين الملحقين باتفاقية حقوق الطفل "، بشأن اشتراك الأطفال في المنازعات المسلحة وبيع الأطفال، واستغلال الأطفال في البغاء وفي المواد الإباحية ( 2004Kuwait joined to six of the major United Nations conventions in the field of seven human rights, namely: 1 - the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1996). 2 - International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1996). 3 - Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (1968). 4 - Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (1994). 5 - Convention against Torture and other cruel, inhuman or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (1994). 6 - Convention on the Rights of the Child (1991). It also joined the "Optional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child", on the involvement of children in armed conflict and the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography (2004)
