Description

The Act updates and replaces the previous Children and Young Persons Act 1989 (CYPA) and Community Services Act 1970. In particular it is founded on a requirement to promote children’s best interests. It also legislates the field of youth justice.

Importantly the directions in the Act apply equally to community service organizations (CSOs) providing family services and out-of-home care placement services as well Child Protection and the courts.
