Description
Botswana has taken a bold step to shift from poverty reduction to poverty eradication. This has prompted the Government to come up with a Poverty Eradication Programme which is aimed at improving the livelihoods of Batswana by addressing all aspects of poverty including among others; the policy environment, the institutional framework and the establishment of sustainable economic empowerment projects. The Poverty Eradication Programme will aid in attaining food security, and at a minimum, sustainable livelihoods among disadvantaged individuals and/or families. The objectives of the implementation guidelines are to; provide an environment for smooth and transparent implementation, and coordination of sustainable poverty eradication projects, harmonize procedures for implementation of poverty eradicationprojects with a view to ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and provide a coordinated platform for all stakeholders in the implementation of poverty eradication projects.
