Mexico: New pictures approved for the next round of warnings, including with reference to COVID-19
HW Mexico

On 15 September 2021, the requirements for Mexico’s next round of pictorial health warnings were published in the Official Journal. Mexico requires a 30% picture warning on the front, a 100% text warning on the back, as well as a warning on a lateral side.

Eight new pictorial health warnings were developed, one of them specially referring to the double risk for smokers to develop a more serious COVID-19 infection and even death. The health warning "Fumar puede agravar el daño por COVID-19" (Smoking may aggravate COVID-19 damage) has been maintained, and an image has now been incorporated.

The new set of warnings, the 11th of the series since 2009, will have to be applied from 1 December 2021 to 28 February 2023.
