Burkina Faso's Ministers of Health and Trade signed a joint decree on April 7, 2015, requiring pictorial warnings required on tobacco packs.
From October all tobacco packages sold in Burkina Faso will have images illustrating the harmful effects of cigarettes and more health messages. The images will cover 60% of both sides of the package. The new decree is consistent with the requirements of Article 11 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, implementing guidelines of this article and the recommendations of the joint assessment mission undertaken by the Secretariat of the Framework Convention and the Government of Burkina Faso in October 2013.
