The city of São Paulo has made progress in consolidating public policies aimed at promoting longevity, guided by the principles of health, protection, inclusion, and social participation. In this context, the strategic role of the Municipal Council for the Rights of Older Persons (CMDPI), linked to the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship, an essential body for participation and social control, stands out. Age-friendly Practice in Focus: Pedalar Sem Idade Porto, Portugal
The project “Pedalar Sem Idade Porto” offers electric trishaw rides for people with reduced mobility, aiming to reduce social isolation. It currently manages 60 volunteer cyclists from Porto and follows these guiding principles:
Generosity: It begins with a generous act of taking one or two elderly people or those with reduced mobility for a ride in a trishaw.
Slowly: Taking things slowly allows people to enjoy the environment and be present for the moment with the beneficiaries throughout the ride.
