On the occasion of the ‘Regional Consultation on Health, the SDGs and the role of Universal Health Coverage: next steps in South East Asia’, held on 30 March – 1 April 2016, in New Delhi, India, Timor Leste’s WHO country office proudly presented its 3-year report ‘EU-Luxembourg-WHO Universal Health Coverage Partnership in Timor-Leste 2013–2015’.

The Regional Consultation brought together senior policy makers and managers, international development agencies, NGOs as well as independent experts, in order to advance Universal Health Coverage in the South East Asia Region (SEAR), as implementation of the SDGs begins.

Specifically, the consultation aimed at:

  1. Achieving better health outcomes and increasing equitable access to quality health services: progress, challenges and opportunities for accelerated progress in SEAR
  2. Reducing financial hardship from using health services: progress, challenges and opportunities for accelerated progress in SEAR
  3. Improving measurement and accountability for progress in SEAR.
