To acquire the knowledge/skills for laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of viral diseases including HIV infection, laboratory management system including data management,etc., and to understand the effective surveillance system of Japan. Participants are to disseminate that knowledge in the participant's organization.

Strengthening laboratory techniques and surveillance system for the global control of HIV and related infectious diseases: 1.to learn the basic knowledge concerning viral diseases including HIV/AIDS 2.to understand the principles of serodiagnosis and quality control techniques 3.to acquire the basic knowledge of molecular biology, the theoretical background knowledge of PCR technology and its practice 4.to learn monitoring technique of viral diseases including HIV infection monitoring 5.to strengthen laboratory management for improving internal quality control and daily activities and operations 6.to learn the roles of the laboratory in infectious diseases surveillance and the cooperations between the central organization and local organizations. 7.to disseminate the acquired knowledge and technique in their organization
