The primary audience for this guideline includeshealth-care professionals who are responsible fordeveloping national and local health-care protocolsand policies, as well as managers of maternal andchild health programmes and policy-makers in allsettings. The guideline will also be useful to thosedirectly providing care to pregnant women andpreterm infants, such as obstetricians, paediatricians,midwives, nurses and general practitioners. Theinformation in this guideline will be useful fordeveloping job aids and tools for pre- and in-servicetraining of health workers to enhance their delivery ofmaternal and neonatal care relating to preterm birth.
