PAGnet is a web-based network that brings together public health officials responsible for port health and key partners to coordinate public health activities at ports, airports and ground crossings (PAG) including preparedness for and response to health emergencies affecting international travel and transport
Mission
PAGnet aims to contribute towards protecting the health of populations and the prevention, detection and control of international spread of disease and its agents through international travel and transport.
Objectives
Specific objectives of PAGnet are to:
1. tap technical expertise of partners and achieve synergy regarding public health activities at ports, airports and ground crossings and related to international travel and transport;
2. promote harmonized technical guidance and instruments for global public health capacity building;
3. improve specific capacities to meet the International Health Regulations (IHR [2005]) requirements and facilitate IHR implementation at PAG;
4. coordinate planning for and facilitate sharing of experience related to response to public health emergencies of international concern; and
5. facilitate international, intersectoral collaboration to advance scientific knowledge in the field of public health and international travel and transport.
Rules and terms of use
The rules and terms of use set forth here below govern this community management platform, which is conducted as part of the PAGnet. Please read the rules and terms of use carefully before joining the community management platform and posting your contribution(s). Please note that your participation in the community management platform will constitute your agreement to comply with the rules and terms of use.
1. Contributions include any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio submitted within the community management platform.
2. Contributors should register using their real name and this will be shown alongside the contribution.
3. Contributors are responsible for their contributions. Contributors must ensure that any material they post on the community management platform is his or her own work, is not defamatory and does not violate or infringe upon the copyright, patent, trademark or any other personal or proprietary rights of any other party. If any content subject to such rights is considered for posting, the author of the post must first obtain all necessary permissions for posting of such material from the owner of such rights, so that the contribution can be used in accordance with these rules and terms of use.
4. Before uploading materials, contributors have to check with an antivirus that there is no virus in the materials.
5. Contributors should be careful with humour and the tone of their postings, and remember that learners come from different age groups and cultural backgrounds. In this regard, no criticism of peoples, gender, race, religious beliefs, countries, or regions will be tolerated.
6. With the submission of a contribution, the contributor grants to the PAGnet community, free of charge, permission to use part or all of the contribution for the community management platform, and for all purposes in conjunction with the PAGnet. Copyright in the contribution will remain with the contributor. If the contributor does not wish the PAGnet community and the World Health Organization to use the contribution, the contribution should not be submitted.
7. Contributions to the community management platform are for use of the PAGnet community and the World Health Organization within the context of the PAGnet objectives only. Reproduction or translation of substantial portions of the contributions, or any use other than for educational or other non-commercial purposes within the context of the PAGnet objectives, require the prior authorization in writing.
8. The Contributors alone are responsible for their contributions, and the readers alone are responsible for the interpretation of these contributions, whether edited or not. The PAGnet community and the World Health Organization does not warrant that the information contained in the contributions or otherwise in the community management platform is complete or correct and shall not be liable whatsoever for any damages, including any general, special, incidental or consequential damages arising out of the participation in the community management platform and the use of contributions.
9. To maintain the quality of the community management platform, PAGnet moderators (see moderator definition: http://www.pagnet.info/content/moderator) may edit or remove messages that do not respect the community management platform Rules and terms of use. Participants may also be contacted in the event contributions or comments require further clarification.
10. The designations employed and the presentation of the information in the community management platform do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the World Health Organization concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
11. The mention of specific companies or of certain manufacturers' products does not imply that they are endorsed or recommended by the World Health Organization in preference to others of a similar nature that are not mentioned. Errors and omissions excepted, the names of proprietary products are distinguished by initial capital letters.
12. Every effort will be made to resolve amicably any matter that may arise concerning this community management platform and the contributions. In the unlikely event an amicable resolution cannot be found, the matter will be resolved by conciliation or by arbitration in accordance with the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, with the arbitral award being final.
