Please consider the scenario I encountered last year. Please only consider the implications concerning the Maritime declaration of Health and the SSC. Individual countries national legislation should not be discussed.

Dear PAGNET members,
Firstly, may I wish you all a Happy and Successful New Year.
Secondly, I was hoping to start some discussions around the issue of Ship Sanitation Certificates and Vessel Inspections to share experiences, ideas, good practice and learning. My thought was to try a series entitled "What would you do?". By using real life scenarios, we can discuss what was found, what could be done and any other relevant matters. I am happy to kick off (sorry, I am a football fan) with an example shortly. Before then I would suggest some rules for any discussions:

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) in the UK has a Special Interest Group (SIG) for Port Health. I am the Seminar Secretary for the CIEH Port Health SIG and in the last 6 months several seminars/presentations have been held for UK Port Health Officers to focus upon how to complete Ship Sanitation Certificates (SSC's) correctly and appropriately.
