A question has been raised, should yachts carry a valid SSC?
In the UK, we have private yachts crossing to and from Europe which fall into the definition of a ship on an international voyage. The approach we take in the UK is not to require a SSC as the risk is low, however if the yacht comes from an infected area then the situation may be diffent and we would review this.
Large training yachts would be expected to carry a valid SSC, along with yachts with professional crew.
Interested in hearing how other Countries approch this.
John

Dear All,
IHR Emergency Committe has published on may 5th a statement about the international spread of wild poliovirus with recommendations on vaccination and issuance of the International Certificate of Vaccination.
Are there some country requiring the International Certificate of Vaccination against polio from travellers from States currently exporting wild poliovirus?
Regards,

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Following the 4th PAGNet meeting last week, I am honoured to tell you that I have been asked to be the PAGNet facilitator for the next year for the Ports and Shipping group. I will be liaising with colleagues at WHO to help deliver key messages to members and subscibers but we are also aiming to develop and grow PAGNet.
