Public Health Emergency at Points of Entry

Dear Colleagues,

For all of us working at, or visiting ports for inspections of vessels, I am sure that we all appreciate that they are risky places. There are a variety of different dangers that we may face and I thought that we could start a discussion about sharing various pieces of advice relating to possible hazards to be aware of and unsafe practices to avoid. Specifically, I thought that we could use this to highlight issues that we may face but are not necessarily part of what we are looking to control.

Many of us are returning today of holiday vacations, so it's a pleasure to greet all of you from Costa Rica, and to wish you all the best in this 2015.

Let's keep up with the good work and the IHR surveillance as good as it has been so far, preventing communicable diseases all around the world!
