WHO publication on Ebola event management at Points of Entry

A new WHO publication "Interim Guidance for Ebola Event Management at Points of Entry" is released, please find it at

This interim guidance document for Ebola virus disease is intended for National Focal Points for the International Health Regulations (IHR)(2005), PoE public health authorities, PoE operators, conveyance operators, crew members and other stakeholders involved in the management of Public health event.

New WHO Collaborative Centre for IHR - Points of Entry in China (AQSIQ)

In July 2014, WHO has designated a new collaborating Centre for IHR – Points of Entry with the Health Quarantine and Inspection Department of the General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China, in order to have their support in the development of global technical guidance, tools,  networks and activities related to core capacity building in the context of International Health Regulations (IHR), such as for development of a global vector identification platform.

Facilitator for PAGNet Ports and Shipping

 

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Following the 4th PAGNet meeting last week, I am honoured to tell you that I have been asked to be the PAGNet facilitator for the next year for the Ports and Shipping group. I will be liaising with colleagues at WHO to help deliver key messages to members and subscibers but we are also aiming to develop and grow PAGNet.

What would you do?

Dear PAGNET members,

Firstly, may I wish you all a Happy and Successful New Year.

Secondly, I was hoping to start some discussions around the issue of Ship Sanitation Certificates and Vessel Inspections to share experiences, ideas, good practice and learning. My thought was to try a series entitled "What would you do?". By using real life scenarios, we can discuss what was found, what could be done and any other relevant matters. I am happy to kick off (sorry, I am a football fan) with an example shortly. Before then I would suggest some rules for any discussions:
