The Healthy Plate’ displays six groups to be eaten regularly: cereals and cereal products (preferably wholegrain) and potatoes; vegetables; fruit; milk and milk products; lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, legumes, nuts and seeds; and fats and oils. The size of each food group segment reflects the proportion the group should contribute to the total daily diet. The food guide recommends drinking plenty of water and that all population groups keep active. Consumption of alcoholic and sugar-sweetened beverages, as well as highly processed foods high in sugar and fat, should be restricted.
