Programme description

Tuboreshe Chakula Project is a key activity of the Feed the Future (FtF) initiative of USAID.

Its main objectives are to enhance the competitiveness of agro-processors and increase the supply of and demand for fortified and blended food products. TC focuses on developing the commercial market channels for fortified maize (sembe), milled rice (not fortified), fortified sunflower oil, blended flour (lishe mix) and micronutrient powder (MNP) for fortifying foods for children aged 6 to 59 months

Promotion of micronutrient powder for home fortification integrated with IYC program is an intervention activity aimed at improving the nutritional quality of local foods by adding vitamins and minerals thus contributing to alleviation of malnutrition among children.
