Policy objectives. In order to carry out its mission, the Ministry of Health has laid down the following major policy objectives for the health sector: (i) to improve the availability of human resources, (ii) to improve the availability of quality drugs, vaccines and consumables, (iii) to expand geographical accessibility to health services, (iv) to improve the financial accessibility to health services, (v) to improve the quality of and demand for services in the control of disease, (vi) to strengthen national referral hospitals and research and treatment institutions, and (vii) to reinforce institutional capacity.
