28th April 2020 I Geneva
The Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) marks its 20th anniversary today - a momentous occasion for the 250 institution strong international public health network for outbreak response including UN Agencies, International and national NGO’s, public health institutions, academia and specialist networks.
Fully engaged in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, GOARN partners are commemorating this day by sharing their COVID-19 response activities internationally and within their domestic borders to raise awareness of the value of this collaborative model particularly when every nation faces the same health threat at the same time.
GOARN is supporting COVID-19 pandemic response in many ways including the deployment of experts to support teams on the ground and for high-level assessment missions, remote access to expertise advice to inform outbreak risk assessments and operational planning, addressing research gaps, the development of innovative tools needed for the response and much more.
Tune into the GOARN website and follow GOARN on social media to capture the diversity and depth of support the Network is providing to the ongoing pandemic response and the extensive expertise it brings to this outbreak drawing from two decades of experience.
As a unique asset to global health security and coordination, GOARN has and continues to deliver support where needed ensuring that the right expertise is made available at the right time. We work to ensure we can end outbreaks at source by working together.
